What will we get to eat while trekking?
Are trekking shoes necessary as we will get gum boots?
Is it better to buy winter wear from ladakh?
Highly nutritious veg meals will be served which are required for the trek.
Regular breakfast , lunch, evening tea and dinner will be served during the trek.
Though the entire trek may be done wearing your gumboots but it’s advisable to carry your trekking shoes as you may be required to climb if in case you find the broken ice sheet patches or chadar formation is not right for the trek. The guide will advise you beforehand during the trek based on the current climatic conditions on the days of trek.
You are advised to get your winter wear from your respective city as you will get limited options in Leh.

What is the risk of getting a frostbite? If that can happen in that cold weather, how we can prevent that?
There are 4-5% chances to get the frost bite. The good idea is to cover yourself to be on the preventive side. Follow the instruction of your guide. In case of frost bite, let your guide know about it. If required you may be rescued and taken to the hospital in Leh. Carry extra pairs of socks and change it immediately when get wet.

Does only bsnl mobile simcard works in leh
Only BSNL/Airtel postpaid will work in Leh city. Other mobile operators has limited connectivity. No mobile connection will work during your trek so inform your friends and family accordingly depending upon your schedule of trek.

Can I get subzero temperature handgloves, socks, UV sunglasses there in leh?
Yes, you may get subzero temperature handgloves, socks, UV sunglasses in Leh. It's advisable to get all your winter gears in advance from your respective city or order online to save on the time and skip the limited option to buy from Leh at the last moment.

How many clothing layers will I need to wear during day time and during night?
4 Layers of clothing including thermal, cotton tees, woolen sweater/fleece jacket, feather/goose down jacket is good enough during day time. Depending upon your immunity you may add or remove the layer.

What kind of shoes are preferable? Can I have woodland boots
Gumboots and ankle length water proof trekking shoes with good grip and thick sole are required for the trek. You may go for Woodland!

I am planning for the trek this coming season, just want to confirm about the safety measure that are taken
You will be accompanied with good size of local support team from Zanskar during the trek along with your expert guide. First aid and oxygen cylinders will be with you throughout the trek. In case of emergency your will be rescued from the trek.

is this trek ok for the complete beginners??
Depending upon ones immunity and strength you may decide upon taking up Chadar trek as your first trek. It's advisable to go for a shorter trek before opting for Chadar trek to experience the hiking and camping.

How fit should I be to complete the trek successfully? Like running 5K in 30min is a good fitness level or i should be even fitter?
Its good enough to have 5K run on daily basis atleast 30-40 days before the trek.

Are there any medicines which we should be carrying?
Yes, we shall share the recommended list of medicines.
Personal medicine kit containing:Crocin - 6 tablets/Avomine - 4 tablets/Avil 25mg - 4 tablets/Combiflam -5 tablets/Disprin - 10 tablets/Norflox - 10 tablets/Crepe bandage - 3 to 5 meters/Band aid - 10 strips/Digene - 10 tablets/Gauze cloth - 1 small role/Leukoplast - 1 small roll/Cotton - 1 small roll/ORS - 5 packets/Betadine or any antiseptic cream/Volini or Moov or Relispray/Diamox - 10 tablets (to be taken only if required and but not as preventive medicine/Any other medicine that you take.

Do we need to carry some food stuff with ourselves?
Though all the meals will be covered during the trek. You may carry energy bars, dry fruits, ORS, water soluble energy drinks etc. to have it on the way. Not to stuff your back pack with heavy snacks.

How much max weight of rucksack is preferred for such trek? I have a wildcraft 65L which can accommodate around 13-15 KGs of clothings
65L is apt for the trek. Not to stuff more than 9-10 Kgs.

Yes, you will be accompanied by the common ground team almost equivalent to number of participants for every batch.

What is this environmental fee and how much is it going to be? Will we get receipt for it when we pay in Leh? Same for association fee?
Yes, the recipt may be provided. This year (Chadar Trek 2017) it was 2000INR Environmental Fee, 300INR Wildlife Fee and 150INR ALTOA/LAHDC charged by the trekkers by the respective authorities.

Yes, Good enough to keep you warm. We suggest every one to carry one.

Powerbanks works out to be 50% of there regular performance/back up time in -10 degree.

Are the prices for foreigners same as mentioned on Trodly or there will be extra charges ?
The prices are same except the Environmental/Wildlife fee ie 300-500INR extra in case of foreigners!
